Two different socks here - a pair of leftover socks (until the heel using the crazy 8's pattern; after the heel turn until the ribbing is done, I just did straight st st & ribbing at the end, changing colors when I felt like it :) though I changed sock yarns at the same time on each sock. THe other pair is made with sockotta yarn in size 2. I thought they were going to be tight on me every time I tried them on, they had 56 stitches on them & 2 by 2 ribbing all the way from the toes on up. I decided to end the sock where I did & was going to frog them & chalk it up to experience (this pair was one of the first pairs I started knitting and had been forgotten many many times). But since the sock actually fits perfectly, I decided just to keep them & wear them as ankle socks. Since they are summer socks (cotton/wool blend) ankle socks are fine. I don't like high socks anyway.
Made out of magic stripes yarn on size 2 needles, 56 stitches I believe I used. I added a solid blue after the heel turn here & there because I realized I needed more yarn to make the socks as high up my leg as what I wanted. Notice I don't have my socks matching - I prefer fraternal twins, thank you very much.
I'll make magic stripes yarn with constrasting heels & toes from now on - which is what I'm doing with my current magic stripes socks. I think I'm using 54 stitches right now for the current magic stripes socks.
this last pair was a sock of the month kit from theknitter.com. I made them using size 3 needles & a stretchy cotton sock yarn that was fun to work with, a little more textured than other stretch cotton sock yarns. It was fun & fast to do - I think I finished these babies in a week or so, and that's fast for me!

Happy new year! I'm so glad this past year is over. I don't normally talk too personally in my blogs, but the past year really wasn't all that bad, in fact, as far as my marriage is concerned, it was the best year yet. Still, all in all, I'm always glad when another year is over.
I have been busy knitting socks! I finished my leftover socks in blue, and they are t-i-g-h-t, but wearable. Just hard to get off my feet! And I've been busy knitting my cloverleaf socks, they've been a WIP since the summer, but I'm on the home front now. I did the heel turn, & about 3 pattern repeats above the heel now. I'm planning on doing another 3 or 4 pattern repeats (6 rows in a pattern) and then I'll continue the ribbing pattern without the lace part for an inch or so, and then switch to k1, p1 ribbing or k2, p1 ribbing for an inch or so, and be done with them. They'll be short socks, but that's okay. I just want to finish these socks!!
I got the knitting pattern a day calender for Christmas, there are sock patterns in there! Oh happy day! I did get a new sock book for Christmas, the one called Socks in the shape of a sock. Good patterns in there, in fact I started woolease slipper socks based off a pattern in that book. K2, p2 across, and then k across the next row. Easy, simple socks.
Also cast on 2 more socks to round out my sock making so I have 4 socks on needles: one is another colorway of magic stripes on size 2 needles, and the other is out of an elann sock colorway in red, blue, and green. I only have 1 ball of it, so I'm using a bit of leftover red for the toe, a bit of leftover blue for the heel, the little bit of red I have left for the top of the heel, and I think I'll throw in some leftover red, yellow, & blue elann sock yarn for a bit to make the yarn stretch some more, and to brighten up the colorway a bit. I love the red, blue, and green colors, but I like a little more splash to them, I think. Right now they are all plain knitting, but after the heels I may do something else, I haven't decided yet.
I picked up more Magic Stripes yarn yesterday at ACMoore with my gift card from my sister in law for Christmas. 3 balls of the same colorway, don't remember the name but it's one of the striped colorways, in light blues & greens... a colorway I didn't have yet. DH wants a pair & so do I, so I bought 3 balls. I figure 1.5 balls for him (he was very wide & short feet, but he likes tall socks, so 1.5 balls for him) and I'll need just over a ball myself, unless I find a solid blue that I like to match for heels & toes... I'm trying not to order any more sock yarn until I finish up some socks, so that might not happen. I am discovering though, I really like constrasting color heels & toes!
