Socks! Socks! Socks!

My knitting blog, mainly socks.

I've decided to combine my knitting & crocheting blog into one. I don't really need two, no one comes here to read anyway, and I post more often in my crocheting one. If anyone wants me, I'll be at http://www.grannysquarewoman.blogspot.com

Not much news to report. Knitted the knitpicks socks a bit last night, about an 1" or so on one sock.

Well, I discovered I still don't really like knitting socks on bamboo needles. I can't find all my metal DPN's in #1's, so I'm using bamboo needles for the knitpicks socks & for another pair.
I finished the magic stripes socks - but, they aren't staying up. I'm not sure why - plenty of ribbing but these babies fall down. It's driving me nuts! Frogged the handpainted knitpicks socks that were going to be crusoe socks - started another knitpicks sock though, from the simple stripes collection. Got about 2" of both toes done. Started a pair of striped socks (from the 6 sox KAL) using leftover Sock it to Me Espirit. Started another pair with black heels & toes (I hate knitting black) & yarn from elann that I can never remember the name of... Smileys also sells it in different colorways....

I'm still plugging along on the magic stripes socks, which became knee high socks. Or they are trying to be, anyway. I started some socks aka magic loop method, but I just didn't like them. I'll give that method a rest & try again in a few months - it seems the second time is a charm for me learning things in knitting, if I give it a rest in between time. Of course it was easy enough to learn magic loop, I just didn't like it. So I'm not sure this method works. Still making crusoe socks, but haven't really done anything with them other than the toes!

Well, I finally tried the magic loop method - and, I don't think I like it. I think I'm going to give up for now. Almost done those magic stripes socks - I'm trying to make them knee highs with some creative usage of yarn/leftovers/odd balls that match the colors in the socks. I started another pair of broadripples out of some handpainted yarn from knit picks, but, I don't like how huge they looked. I frogged back to the end of the toes at about the 64 stitch mark instead of 72 stitch mark, and I think I'll make crusoe's instead.
